My Skills

Here my goal is to explain my skill set and outline what an asset I am for the team.

Writing
For a little over eight months I have communicated exclusively over email in my advisor role. This had in itself a definite learning curve. I have discerned the nuances of context gathering and providing details while using as little back and forth as possible. Consistently maintaining a 100% authentication rate. As email is the medium of communication for the team, this will be incredibly useful.
Technical
I have training with SQL and can use Splunk and Mode. I am also familiar with .json and how it can be used to gather details quickly. I am at ease when working with csv files and have a M.O.U.S. Master certificate (Microsoft Office User Specialist) so am also well versed with spreadsheets. Again, this would be very advantageous for the role.

Logical
I have a keen eye for detail, work very well with case building and use a very logical approach for context gathering and problem solving which has been honed over the past three years as an advisor.  I have also taken courses in Social engineering and understand that as humans we can be a weakness in any secure enviornment. I realise that strong informed data is essential. Again, my natural skill in this area will be an asset.

Empathy
The best words I have heard to describe this are that empathy is feeling another's pain in your heart. At Shopify it's one of the things that set us apart, we care and our merchants know it. I have an extremely high level of emotional intelligence which has been greatly developed over the last three years and am ready when required to advocate for a merchant, to understand and acknowledge their struggles, while maintaining a firm but fair professional tone. Even during very difficult conversations. This of course will also apply to supporting advisors through their interactions with merchants, as an escalated team member.

Teams
One of the most important aspects of working at Shopify is the interactions of its teams. Be that your own squad mates who help get you through the day to day, the escalated teams who help when things get too technical or outside your control, the development teams who help to continually improve the offering we can extended to our merchants, making it easier all the time for them to manage and grow their businesses. It's a synergy that we are all a part of. With my skills in coding, educating, communication and the development of applications this will be a great asset in future collaborations. Be that picking up a project, to edit a guru card, work with the development team, or even to champion a new idea for the future.
Learning
Through my life journey I have been fortunate to have had experienced a second chance at education. This opened a whole new world for me. Again, and again, I have demonstrated to others and myself a high functioning ability to not only learn but to excel. From no education to earning a MOUS certificate, writing two mobile video game expansions, gaining the highest score seen on a UCC diploma in Applied Business Computing, being praised by external examiners at CIT for my project work, scoring 1000 out of 1000 for a CCNA exam and more. No matter what comes I now have the experience and confidence, I can learn anything.
Shopify
More than anything else here, I love working for Shopify. The goals and mission of the company have always resonated with me. After three years of mirroring and delivering those ideals to our merchants on a daily basis, I know so much on a surface level. I relish the opportunity to be able to work with the Account Integrity team and to bring my extensive skills to bear, having an impact in many new ways.
